Live Like You Want

“…Like it or not, we live like we fish and we fish like we live…” Who you are on and off the water is who you are in “real” life. You can’t be a stressed out- over worked spaz in “real” life and expect to be any different once you hit the water. And vice versa. . . Think about it..

Rules for Change: Gandhi

What are you doing to be the best you can be today?

Thinking of all the beings in the world as individuals.. alone on solo journeys.. only separates us when what is true, is that we are all inter-connected.

When we are being the best we can be and giving that greatness out to others, our energy affects them and in return it comes back to us. Creating this on-going, continuous cycle of energy exchange.

Gandhi was right. When we are stuck in something, we remove ourselves from our natural instinct to more towards love, and giving to others. With IN ACTION, we clog our own growth.

Lately, I have engaged in alot of discussion surrounding action, and inaction. A friend said “Sometimes a bad decision is better than in-decision.

I pause to let this settle.

How can making a bad decision ever turn into something other than a bad decision? Well, what is bad and what is good? Aren’t those simply labels we put on things? Once we make our decision and say, it just doesn’t turn out the way we expected it to, that’s doesn’t denote it as having been a bad choice persay, it just is.

Now, this doesn’t mean I believe one can do no wrong. There are plenty of bad decisions a person can make. To intentionally harm another, to do wrong to others, so forth. . . We are all too aware of the injustices in the world, and this isn’t the place to open em up, at least for now. .

Life is about constantly moving. deciding. growing. flowing. glowing. Pausing to be silent and attune oneself to their individual truths, but then keep moving.

To live is to learn, and to learn is to grow.

Keep going. Keep growing. Tune in often, and decide on things you know and believe in, and don’t worry, the universe has your back.

Find your purpose by following your passion(s)

Find your purpose by following your passion(s)

Wondering what the HELL you are going to do with your life? Or are you doing something (career, school, relationships, etc) which you just don’t feel is working for you? Are you finding that you drag yourself out of bed every morning instead of LEAPING up excited at another day of meaningful life adventure?

No matter what we choose to do with our lives, there will be times when shit sucks. But we can choose to view it as a small pothole on the VERY windy, adventurous road of life.

In case you are experiencing doubt about your current life and are toying with other options but can’t quite put your finger on anything concrete, I MAY have something to help you, just a bit.

Are you living in your bliss?

Comfort Zone: Exit here

You’ve got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down. – Annie Dillard

Life is about taking chances. Pushing yourself past your fears, self limiting beliefs, and outside of your comfort zones. It is only when we are operating outside of this comfort zone do we OPEN ourselves up for great opportunities.

Many of us get relaxed and comfortable with everything in our lives, day to day. Do you ever imagine what it would be like to push yourself out of these comfort zones? To JUMP off the edge of uncertainty?

Be it with falling in love, applying for a job outside of your field, ACCEPTING a job outside of your field and relocating 2000 miles away from your current residence. What are the things you would do if you weren’t afraid of failure?

What if I told you not to attach to the end result, not to see the end line and the POSSIBILITY of failure, of not getting the promotion you applied for, of the relationship you leaped off the cliff for MAY not work out?

Instead of focusing on things that are NOT IN THE PRESENT, focus on this moment. Commit fully to the application process for your new career venture, COMMIT fully to leaping off the cliff of love. Trust that your soul is guiding you exactly where you need to be going and that you WILL land on your feet. Always.

When you find yourself presented with choices today, with the options of doing something ‘different’ than your normal way of operating, try and push yourself outside of your own comfort zone. Instead of instantly responding to a request, or question, take a few minutes to reconnect with the truth deep inside and see how you align with your present choices.

And if it is, trust it and LEAN IN to your life in NEW, adventurous ways. Just today. And then tomorrow. And the day after that. Everyday, lean. in.

Living your hero’s truth

Hey, ever wonder what you are really DOING in your life? What is your divine purpose? What are you meant to be doing in your life and are you living your life authentically?

How do you spend your days? Are you happy with your life and are you following your bliss?
Are you experiencing life and learning about yourself and then applying the lessons to the new journeys you embark on throughout your life?
Are you following your own divine calling of being a hero?

Have you ever asked yourself these questions?

I ask myself these questions all. the. time. And the answer is always yes, and if I deviate from ‘yes,’ I realign myself. When we authentically follow our bliss, we align ourselves with the UNI-verse and great things happen.

Don’t believe me, take a peek at this video about finding Joe, the Hero. If it doesn’t change the way you view your own life, or if it doesn’t solidify the decisions you already make or the path you have already embarked on, then watch it again. 🙂

Lessons learned from the platform

1. Do you.

If this means blowing off socializing in order to throw weights around, or to catch up on recovery sleep, DO YOU. If they are good friends, they will understand that you are doing what is necessary for you to perform at your best, don’t let anyone hold you back.

2. Find your Flow.
Find something that gets you in the zone. This is a state of mind where you are completely absorbed in the moment. For me, this is when I am adjusting my grip, taking a few breaths, setting up my lift..Everything melts away. . I am in my zone.  Find MANY things that transport you into this zone. It releases endorphin’s, the drug of choice for happy people.

3. Your body is your temple. Respect it. Love it.
Treat yourself kindly. Give it proper food, sleep, and nourishment. Meditate, do yoga, be loving to the vehicle which physically propels you through life.

4. Take chances. Often. Usually big ones.
Load up weight you aren’t sure you can clean,Travel to new places, read different books, whatever. GO. OUTSIDE. your COMFORT ZONE. It is only when we get truly uncomfortable do we open ourselves up for possibility of something great, be it growth, love, a new PR, whatever. Just do it. NO one EVER experienced GREATNESS without great effort. Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Buddha…

5. be a boss.
Seriously. On and off the platform. In and out of the classroom. the office. at home. in the gym. Fucking be present, and give your best lift attempt at life. It’s fucking awesome.

Today’s lift

  • snatch wrmups
  • snatch 2 x 2 @ 70%
  • For fun: Clean & jerk to within 10-20% of PR weight. 4 x 2 @ 45 kg
  • 2 x 1 @ 53 kg

Video: Sara: c & j 45 kg, 50 kg.

A life well lived

A life well lived.

Life is a life-long lesson in learning.

Life is an ADVENTURE!

Start living it today. Race after it. Once you are in the race, you have two choices, to slow down your pace to increase your changes of running further, or longer.

Or you can run faster. Really fast. Because sprinting like a kid through the race of life is way more fun than taking it slow or playing it safe.

And if you aren’t falling down, run faster.

run harder.

push yourself more.

Do more.

Be more.

Give more.

Live more.

Love more. Just. Love.

Day (483) – White Hot and Passionate

I love this.

Time itself is SO short. Whatever you do, whatever you love, do it with all your heart. Leap and fall often. Push yourself further today than you were capable of yesterday. Immerse yourself in your passions until they wear on you, for is living a life without PASSION living at all?

Do the things that challenge you. Take chances. BIG ones. Sometimes we succeed while others we won’t. The result is not always what is important, it is what we learn about ourselves in the process that is worthwhile.
And if we have some great experiences and become badasses in the process, there really is nothing to lose.

I love this. Time itself is SO short. Whatever you do, whatever you love, do it with all your heart. Leap and fall often. Push yourself further today than you were capable of yesterday. Immerse yourself in your passions until they wear on you, for is living a life without PASSION living at all? Do … Continue reading Day (483) – White Hot and Passionate

Are you HAPPY? Test yourself…

Are you HAPPY? Test yourself...

Simply put, Are you happy?

Today I am ALL about creating a day FULL of happy VIBRATIONS (I am applying this word today, from a dear friend of mine, because I LOVE it)

I have found myself struggling lately..My INTENSE vibration of love and happiness went hiding for a few days, and I was FRANTIC (not really, but maybe a bit) in trying to get back to my place of overflowing love and happiness.

The more I resisted the fact that my love vibrations had dropped a few levels, the more the feeling of lack stuck around.

As soon as I stopped focusing on the fact that my love vibrations had dropped, AND as soon as I started ACTIVELY cultivating happiness inside me (positive affirmations, going for a walk, looking only at the POSITIVE and most importantly filling myself with GRATITUDE)

Boom. My love cup runneth over.

Love. Be Happy.

Bless you, wondrous body of mine. By being more aware of what a PERFECT creation you are, I will avoid mistreating you.

I like to start my day off with AWEsomeness.

That means I do positive affirmations that resonate with me and help focus my thoughts on empowering aspects of my life. I use the inspiration and happiness I gain to propel me forward. DAILY.

I don’t want to break this down and explain what it means to me, or what it could mean to others. I think it speaks for itself.

Humbling. Inspiring. Respectful.

Reasons to take yourself OUTSIDE

1- Man was born in the wild. Returning to it RESONATES at the very core of who we are. It heightens the peace and stillness within us.

2- You get to see LIFE at its purest: The way the morning sunlight bounces through the tree tops, baby bambi deer chilling in a meadow, and SMELL- the awakening of your senses when you can SMELL the vividness of life that surrounds us. Nature awakens your senses.

3- Physical activity! Rock climb, go for a brisk walk, swim in the lake/ocean/river, run through the woods, hike up the valley. Go off the beaten path and EXPLORE- get you a little exercise while you’re at it.

4- Vitamin D- Most people in America have a deficiency. Around 15 minutes of sunlight a day can boost your levels!

5- Gardening- Reap what you sow.

This list can go on and on, but that means you are still here, inside, reading it. So instead, go EXPLORE on your own, and see what benefits you receive from being OUTSIDE.

And don’t forget to show your graditute! 😉

“People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child—our own two eyes. All is a miracle.” ~Thich Nhat Hanh

Drop it like it’s hot

Snatch wasn’t happening, Jerk was poppin, but I figured it was time to drop some squats on y’all.

Monday’s training

Snatch warmups
Pwr snatch + Overhead squat + Snatch x 5

Push press + Jerk behind neck + Jerk x 5

Jerk dip squat (just the beesknees) 5 x 3

Backsquats at 85% 4×4

Ya that’s a hot 70kg, which WAS my 1 R max front squat at the beginning of this 10 week volume and intensity squatting cycle.

Basically, my wine hangover made my lifts rough today, but dropping that shit LIKE A BOSS made up for it.

Whatever you do in the gym today, do it like the fucking boss you know you are.

You only die once, but we have every day to live.

Aspirations to …

Aspirations to pursue. achieve. grow. Learn. Learn to love yourself the most. Love others. Love everyday-be present in every moment.

Cherish laughter and glow in the sunshine. Explore everything possible. Investigate yourself and who you are. Let go of everything you have been holding on to.

Allow life to come and go around you while cherishing every moment. Love all fearlessly. Give your light to those in need. Help someone. Give someone love.

Take risks; professionally, personally, romantically; authentically and fail over and over. Learn from everything, from every moment, notice the change in your eyes and how you reflect that in your heart.

Capture the colors and beauty of everyday life. Continue to see the world as though it were a painting- fleeting moments of time- captured with vibrant colors and brushstrokes. Be courageous. Volunteer. Cry and laugh as much as possible, smile every day.”

Yesterday I was tested. Faced with the stressors of life and my drive to be A BOSS at life, I was really hard on myself. And then I got frustrated for being so hard on myself. What a cycle! Phew.

Do you find yourself falling into old habits or behaviors when you know they are bad for you? — Like being overly hard on yourself? You aren’t alone! This is something I struggle with All. The. Time. The most important thing is that we are AWARE of this behavior. With awareness comes change.

PEPtalk in the form of a slap in the face in the form of a text message…

“I know this is the road less traveled for a reason, because if it was easy, everyone would be on it with me, but that’s not the case. I work so hard and am so hard on myself when I experience anything less than perfection, when perfection is fully unobtainable. This isn’t about comparing good days and bad days, it’s about knowing and accepting there will be both good and bad days in life. The best we can do is laugh, love ourselves and those around us, and lay back and enjoy the ride. Life is glorious, for a myriad of reasons, many yet to be revealed.”

This leads me to TODAY. I feel like a BOSS today. Do you? Well you should, because no matter what happened in your life yesterday, or what is going to require your attention tomorrow, RIGHT NOW, you can decide to feel like a FUCKING BOSS.

So…own your shit. Own your life. Love the shit out of it, and it’ll love you right on back.

CHOOSE your thoughts wisely. BE the change.

CHOOSE your thoughts wisely. BE the change.

True story.

I used to let my thoughts control me.
If I thought I was mad, I became mad (and in some cases, madder- feeding negative energy into the thought) and I found myself holding on to those thoughts, prolonging my negativity.

Just as much as you can use your thoughts against you (beating yourself up for thinking or feeling a certain way), you can use your thoughts to empower you, by realizing you are CHOOSING the way you think. The beauty in this is that once you realize you are in control of how you feel, you become your most powerful tool. You need nothing to achieve this, it is already inside of you. Listen closely. Do you hear it? At the very core of who we all are, we are happy, loving creatures.

I know, I know, you’re wondering, “What happens when I am having a bad day and I can’t control what is going on because my boss is riding my case?!”  WELL, you CAN decide for yourself if you want to allow an outside force to affect YOU.
How do you do this? Simply by CHOOSING not to allow it to affect you, by taking a step back from the thought you feel is overwhelming you and do something you know will improve your mood, like going for a 5 minute walk outside and clearing your head or simply sitting at your desk and smiling (even if you have to force it) until it helps you release the tension and the unhappy thoughts simply drop from your center of focus.

Sounds crazy, right? Like, wait. Am I suggesting that being happy is as easy as CHOOSING to be happy? Um, yes, yes I am. It really is that simple. Think for a second on how you are feeling right this minute…Are you anything other than HAPPY? Okay, why? “Because your boss is an asshole.” Send the thoughts light and love, then drop it.

I found that when I started asking myself these questions, in situations that arose on a daily basis, I became aware that I could instantly DECIDE to be happy, and I started to transform my life. I became happy. Doors starting opening. Positive things started coming into my life in ABUNDANCE. By changing the way I thought, I learned I had the power to change the direction and meaning of my life!

Everyone is capable of happiness, if we merely allow ourselves to manifest and cultivate the happiness inside of us all. It’s there, go get it!

“The mind is everything, What you think about you become.” – Buddha

owning my platform. weightlifting, like a BOSS

The first lifts at 55kg and 56kg I completed over my weight class (53kg). My tech. slips as I max out, but I will take it..
I have been weightlifting since the beginning of the year, so about 7 months. It is one of the hardest physical things I have ever done/do. It pushes me mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. When I lift, it takes me to another place, where everything in my mind is quiet and still (on an ideal day).

Some days lifting knocks me down, others it lifts me up. Some lifts are good, some lifts are bad. It is the ever changing flow of weightlifting that keeps me hungry for more. Progress ebbs and flows. Like life. For me, they meld together. I am stronger, tougher, braver, determined, driven, more than ever before, and it is undeniable weightlifting has largely impacted every single aspect of my life.

Do you have a passion for sport? What drives you? Is it the competition you have with others, or the one you play against with yourself? Are you your biggest supporter, or do you tear yourself down? How can you make yourself a better athlete?
What you think about yourself, your workouts, and your lifts on and off the platform shape the way you train. I am a fucking boss. I live it. This is my life. My platform.

Does this post inspire you? I would love to hear back from you!
